Observations

Trailing 13 weeks : 24 Nov 2025 – 22 Feb 2026

Trailing 13 Weeks: 24 Nov 2025 – 22 Feb 2026

Our Upscale Casual portfolio experienced a SSS decline of ~ (0.8%) versus the prior year, driven by a ~(6.2%) drop in cover traffic. Higher Sales per Head (SPH) remains the primary driver of positive sales momentum, offsetting continued softness in covers volumes — a pattern consistent with the trailing 13-week trend.

Consumer behaviour shift

UK upscale dining trips fell sharply as cost-conscious consumers pulled back on visits to more expensive restaurants with rising costs being the primary reason. The ~5.8% SPH lift is almost certainly a mix of two things: menu price inflation passed through by operators managing higher labor costs, and a selection effect — the guests who are still coming are more intentional about it.
